What you called "Sea Dogs" is actually "Sea Dogs: To each his own". Original "Sea Dogs" is the first game of this series and was released in 2000

The best ever is the original Pirates! from Microprose (Sid Meiers) in the late 80's ! I guess the people working for Wizakiz are too young to know this game! For its time it's undoubtly the best pirates game ever and one of the best ever all categories included. Now with the modern PC and video game consol, we could expect much more from modern Pirates games.What was accomplished by Sid Meiers in 1987 with his Pirates! remains unmatched. The sense of freedom and the possibilities that the game offered were immense.

Im still waiting to this day for a Open World ActionRPG Pirate game.
Something like The Witcher 3 + AC IV: Black Flag, would be a fucking great game.
But only shit they make involving pirates is Naval Battle simulator, that's not a Pirate Game if i can't even go out of the boat and hunt for treasure.
That's the reason Skull & Bones is a dissapointment to me, looked great but it is actually a AC IV: Black Flag without free roam and only Naval battles.

What the pirate games we have gotten over the years lack is mythos. Most of the pirate games lack mythos,they are too realistic and even the pirate games that try to incorporate mythos execute it poorly. Sea of thieves was a step in the right direction but it's online only so it loses potential.
